Why do homework?

Homework is an essential aid in helping students to make the most of their school experiences. I believe homework is a valuable tool for reinforcing what has been learned in class. It also prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students develop positive study habits.

When is homework assigned?

Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday and it is expected to be returned completed, the following morning. Weekly assignments will be provided to students the Friday before the week they are due. There will be times when students have homework in more than one subject area. However, when it is time for tests, they will have an appropriate amount of study time.

Daily Reading Homework- Read independently for a minimum of 30 minutes from an appropriate leveled novel. Students will be assigned quarterly AR goals based on individual needs.

Expectations for homework: I expect students to do their best on homework. Homework should be done neatly and turned in on time. Please help your child set a routine for homework in a quiet area where they can work independently with minimal distractions. Students will receive feedback on their homework assignments, which will help them improve in areas in which they are struggling. I provide help on homework each morning before the final bell. If a student had issues the night before, it is his or her responsibility to see me first thing. There will be consequences for students who fail to turn in homework on time.

I realize that family schedules are hectic, and I appreciate your support with making sure your child takes time to complete homework daily!
